The Real Estate Regulations and Development Act also known as RERA was first introduced as a bill in Parliament in 2013. It was passed and finally became an act in 2016.

In the long term the RERA Act is meant to help get additional reform on the real estate industry that will benefit the home buyers. All the Real Estate Developers have had to register themselves on the RERA portal and also register each of their upcoming projects with the authorities.

As RERA completed its one year, there are a huge number of 74% home buyers who are unaware of the process that they have to check if the projects are registered on the official website. That marks the legality and its originality that the developers are legitimate. But unfortunately, 74% is a massive percentage of how low the consumer awareness is. According to reports, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh were the first ones to set up RERA authority and its concerned websites.
